Research: Scrivener makes researching a tidy process. Here are just some of the things that stand out: Scrivener has so many functions, and if you’re anything like me, you probably won’t use them all. Word processors remain an option for those writing books comprised of short stories or shorter non-fiction works, as you will likely do most of your navigation within smaller sections. So, for those writing novels that fall within the average word count of 70,000 to 120,000 words, it may not be ideal. Trying to navigate from the beginning to your book to the end will require a lot of scrolling. (Note: in the world of traditional publishing, a combination of Microsoft Word and then printed proofs are still the way books are produced.) It does have limitations when it comes to writing books and longer manuscripts. Word processors like Microsoft Word or Google Docs cover all of the basics, and with functions like tracked changes, they can be great collaboration tools and make the editing process much simpler.
